Dealing with lying

So many times we find ourselves caught up in lying.
Sometimes we find ourselves caught in a position we feel the only thing to do is lie.
Though we have to understand that lying is a sin.
And remember a sin is a choice you make.
Lying is a choice we make almost every day of our lives.
We have to remember God does not like sin incensed lining is a sin that means died does not
Like it when we sin.
As a matter of fact he hates it, the bible says so.

Proverbs 6:16 and 17
16.  These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17.  A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

Lying is one of the things he hates. How many times do we find ourselves doing this one thing God hates so much.
How many times do we find ourselves lying on our income tax forms?
How about when we tell someone something we know is a lie.
And how many times do we tell someone in our home, to tell the person on the phone were not there even though they’re looking at us.
How many times do we excuse our lying by says it was just a little white lie.
God doesn’t care what color the lie is it still a lie.
And how many times have we used this excuse; God understands why I had to lie?

If God understands why is it that he wrote in his Word that he hates a lying tongue.

Proverbs 6:16 and 17
16.  These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17.  A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

So this does kind of destroying our excuses that God doesn’t understand, doesn’t it?

The Bible teaches us that we should not hang around with people that do lie
Psalms 5:6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

There is an old saying that goes like this.:
I will tell you who you are by who you are with.
This is not being judgmental its being truthful.
Why is this truthful,  because it is so easy for us to be swayed into sin.
If a child hangs around with another child that steals they will learn to steal also.
If a child hangs around with another child that lies they will learn to lie also.
You show me who you are with and I’ll tell you who you are.

The book of Proverbs has one of the prayer we should all pray,  look at what it says:
Psalms 120:2-3
2  Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue.

We should pray that we can keep our tongues under control
We need to do what we need to do to control this problem of lying.
You have to remember lying is not of God it is of the devil.

Is lying really of the devil? Yes, it is, look at what the Bible says:
John 8:44
"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

And God wants us to stop it.
How can we as Christians want to have any part with something that we know is of the devil and is not of God?
The Bible says:  the devil has come to destroy what God is trying to build up in you.
When we lie we separate ourselves from the presence of God.

I have a question for you; if lying isn’t so bad why is it that Ananias, and Sapphira  died because they lied to the Holy Spirit?
Read what it says in the book of:
Acts 5:1 to 10
1.  But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.
2.  And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet.
3.  But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
4.  "While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.''
5.  Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
6.  And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.
7.  Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
8.  And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?'' And she said, "Yes, for so much.''
9.  Then Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.''
10.  Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.

In my opinion I would say God got a bit upset with them simply because they lied about how much they sold the land for.
It’s sad to think greed caused them to lie and they paid the ultimate price for lying.
It makes you wonder if the next time you’re in church and someone asks you a  question if you want to lie to them are not.

Remember this if you lie:
You are a liar.
If you are a liar.,
You have sinned.
If you have sinned.
That make you a sinner.
And you need to ask God to forgive you.

So many Christians and others get caught up in lying they forget that it is a sin to God.
And we need to get our life’s rights.
So the devil will not have any power over us.
